The Biennale de l‚ÄôImage en Mouvement was founded by Andr√© Iten in 1985, during a workshop with the artists Silvie and Ch√©rif Defraoui. It was initially called International Video Week and was one of the first events of its kind in Europe.

Since its inception in 1985, the Biennale de l‚ÄôImage en Mouvement has provided a platform for art and ideas by surveying the ever-shifting territories of moving images while aiming to make sense of this extraordinary profusion of images that has progressively invaded all aspects of contemporary art.

The Biennale de l‚ÄôImage en Mouvement 2016 is organized by the Centre d‚ÄôArt Contemporain Gen√®ve, in collaboration with the¬†Fonds d‚Äôart contemporain de la Ville de Gen√®ve (FMAC) and the¬†Fonds cantonal d‚Äôart contemporain, Gen√®ve (FCAC) and co-produced by Faena Art and In Between Art Film.
