Equine Dreaming is 44x54 inches large, framed red painting of two black Arabian horses, abstract style, in a poppy field. This painting was originally painted to show me as a little girl in a poppy field dreaming of the two horses I would one day own. Unfortunately I grew up allergic to horses so this never happened. Instead, I painted them. Recently I made the painting more abstract and added a red background. You can still see a suggestion of poppies and green fields, hills and trees beyond the two back horses and you can still see a little girl in a yellow dress picking poppies and dreaming of horses. I chose red simply because it works well with black and is the complement to green which was the original background colour. The painting is framed in a metallic burnished copper and silver frame, two inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. Between Worlds is 48x48x1.5 inches art nouveau style large oil painting of a stag and three deer in a Sussex bluebell wood with a lake and trees behind. This painting was inspired by walking through a lot of spring woods and spotting a lot of deer in them - especially during April and May in England. It is called between the worlds as the deer sometimes seem to me to stand between the physical and the material worlds. A group of white deer and a stag stand to the left in a woodland glade blinking in and out of existence. The colours match bluebells and other woodland flowers and the trees are bright green as they are in springtime. To the right there is a lake in the clearing and the hint of another path through the forest beyond. The idea I was trying to capture is the elusive nature of deer and of bluebell season. One minute deer are there watching you, the next they flash their white behind's at you and disappear. I love to see the seasons reflected in English woodland and like to capture a glimpse of April in particular. This is a very large canvas and does not need a frame. The edges are white and it is ready to hang. -

Weaving Summer is a 40x40x1,5 inches, large, semi abstract oil on canvas of a summer meadow with swallows. The painting is abstract, contemporary, art nouveau in style and was inspired by sitting in a meadow in Forest Row watching swallows swooping over the wildflowers of this Sussex field. I imagined the swallows were weaving some kind of summer enchantment as they maneuvered around each other and that is why I named it Weaving Summer. Nature performs and the swallows are her little magicians. The painting was created in layers - the first being blurred and blended to give an out of focus look. The next layers are more detailed and hint at wildflowers, buttercups, daisies, clover and long grasses together with the birds who are leaving trails of gold behind them as part of their spell. Summer in England does not last as long as we would like but it is stunningly beautiful and I never tire of walking in fields and painting my impressions of what I see. Spirit of May is 40x40x1.5 inches art nouveau contemporary landscape painting of a white spectral deer in a wildflower meadow. The painting was made after a walk near Wadhurst in Sussex and shows a very colourful array of wildflowers in an abstract, art nouveau, expressionist style. It shows a path view through a meadow in May leading towards hazy summer trees in the background. A transparent white deer stands in the foreground blending into his landscape as deer tend to do in real life. The intention I had on painting this landscape was to capture my impression of a beautiful area of Sussex and a beautiful season. I am always thrilled by the sights and scents of England in May and I try to share these moments in my paintings. Although this has many colours in it, the painting is still mostly green with overlapping veils and colours that hint of how fleeting the month of May is. It is painted on wide edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang, no frame needed. -

Summer Meadow with Swallows is a 30x30x1.5 inches oil on canvas of a wildflower filled summer meadow with two swallows dancing over it. This painting is semi abstract, art nouveau and expressionist in style and was my valiant attempt to the capture a moment last August when I was in a meadow near Lingfield in Surrey. There was an abundance of colours in the wildflowers, perfumes given out by the flora and fauna, the buzzing and whine of insects and constant jubilant birdsong. Swallows were flying over and around me very quickly and as I tried to focus on the birds, the flowers and trees and grasses in the fields and meadows beyond them slid out of focus as the painting itself reflects to some degree. It gave me a totally timeless feeling and I really wanted to catch and immortalize this particular moment. -

Song of April is a 36x48x1.5 inches large original oil painting on canvas of a spring inspired abstract landscape. This painting was made in April in England after a wander through fields and hills in Sussex when the pink and white blossom was out and the bluebells were blooming in the woodland and forests. It was a hot day and I came across a young Roe deer watching me from the other side of the Rother river bank near Bodiam castle. My eyesight is blurry and that makes it easier for me to paint in a slightly impressionistic style. This painting reflects my memory of this lovely day with the pinks, lilacs, greens, yellows and whites of trees and wildflowers I saw walking along the river. April is my favourite month as it seems to be the one most full of the energy of nature. You can feel the birds and animals and plants and trees all busily enjoying spring. The painting shows a glimpse from under trees on the left across a small river that leads towards hazy trees further along the valley. In the centre on the opposite bank is a small deer delicately nosing around in the flowers as she did just before she spotted me... Dedicated to all fellow walkers and lovers of the UK countryside.
