A lovely end to a satisfying day on a glorious sandy beach in southern England. Painted in oils on box canvas. There is deep texturing to sandy rocks with smooth brush work to the sky and sea. Aldous took acid with my dad in 1950's...they discussed Utopianism and cities of The Future...but my dad was drawn into nuclear war planning after the Cuban Missile Crisis and Aldous died on acid in 1963... the same day as JFK...I remember running to a nuclear bunker that day ...the British government thought it was the start of WW3...so did my dad...my dad gave me his signed copy of Aldous's amazing The Doors of Perception; Heaven and Hell for my 18th birthday... -
My site is made up of two subject matters, which are villages and cities. The majority of these cities and villages are inspired by middle-eastern architecture. My villages tend to be almost all my imagination, while the city ones often have a real existing landmark.I also often further beautify the city sites so as to appeal even more to the public. -

AnticAnticipation... is a 24x18x1.5 inches oil on canvas of a rainbow coloured abstract autumn forest path. It is another in a series of paintings of glowing autumn paths based on place near Sharpthorne and the Bluebell Railway in Sussex. I love the idea of paintings being portals to other places and this one looks quite magical to me. I called it 'anticipation' as that is what a good country walk delivers. You become fascinated by what is over the next hill or through the next forest. It never ceases to thrill me and I have tried to capture my enthusiasm in this little painting. It is dedicated to anyone else who would like to escape into it occasionally. April Echoes is a large green woodland contemporary landscape oil painting of a distant lake seen through the trees of a woodland path. The painting is mostly made up of shades of bright green ranging from yellow greens through to dark viridians, purples and blues. The saplings and trees are dressed in the bright vibrant greens of springtime in England. This painting was inspired by a walk I took around Ardingly reservoir in Sussex. Woodland paths are a very constant source of inspiration for me as you never know where they will lead and what is across the next field, through the next wood and over the next style. It is exciting and you often come across deer, birds and other woodland creatures which adds to experience. This painting was made by blurring the edges of it to look out of focus whilst making the paint thicker and thicker towards the centre. The white of the glimpse of the lake is thickest of all which gives a 3D feeling of walking the path thought the trees and past the foxgloves and other woodland flowers.
