Virginia Hall DSC Croix de Guerre MBE was the top US spy in France in WW2...incredibly brave and funny, she had a wooden leg she called Cuthbert...she's another icon...this painting is based on her Nazi wanted poster (they gave her the code name Artemis) which I have coopted and placed against a tricolour. My dad knew her in the 50's when she was at the CIA..I remember her coming round for dinner, she was great...I loved Cuthbert too...she got on well with my mum...my mum was a dress designer for Jaeger..they were both VERY stylish..looking forward to the film this year..hope they do her justice...a truly great and genuine hero...loved painting this and remembering her

Art nouveau party horse is a 30x40x1.5 inches oil painting on canvas of an Arab horse but painted in an art nouveau, rather playful style. This painting began life as a serious portrait of a beautiful bay stallion. However, it was boring so I decided to see what would happen if I made it into a Gustav Klimt style painting. I added lots of gold and some little patterns and marks that transformed it completely. I am very fond of paintings that show an interplay between traditional and abstract so am now very happy with this painting as it looks like a conservative horse who has gone to a party and is letting his hair down (hence the name). The background and edges are gold and it does need a frame and is ready to hang.

Assembling Horse is a large original equine oil painting (47x32x0.5 inches) of an art nouveau, semi abstract, golden purple horse assembling out of nothing. The inspiration for this painting was simply that I find horses very beautiful and I sometimes just need to indulge in painting one just to feel happy. This horse is being created out of golden particles assembling out of the ether. I like this idea as all life forms are basically assembled from smaller particles so all I am doing here is showing the process in a more fanciful way. The horse is painted realistically around the eye and parts of its face in contrast to other parts of her which are partially formed, transparent or decorated for no particular reason other than it looks pleasing to me. The colours range through dark blue, purples, lilacs, golds and pinks and is thin and transparent in places and thick in others which further add to the idea of the horse in the process of appearing. I am a great fan of the artist Gustav Klimt and this possibly shows in this painting as he too liked to contrast realistic with abstract and decorativeness in the way that I am doing here. It is painted on thin canvas, edges white, ready to hang.
