ACANTHUS - basswood, 41 x 22 x 14 cm - 2018 The sculpture is named "Acanthus". It takes its appellation from a tall flower that grows in the mediterranean region. You can consider this piece as the hard job of a crazy woodworm. Made with basswood, with a smooth layer of wax on. The base is in swiss stone pine wood. ITALIAN VERSION La scultura è chiamata "Acanthus". Prende nome da un fiore ad alto fusto che cresce nella regione mediterranea. Questo pezzo è prodotto dal duro lavoro del tarlo matto. The crazy woodworm took its inspiration from lo a skull of a Vervet monkey. Made with maple wood, with a smooth layer of wax on. The linking bars are in metal, the base is in mahogany. ITALIAN VERSION La scultura è chiamata "Atropa". Prende nome da una pianta velenosa collegata alle tre Moire della mitologia greca. Il tarlo matto ha avuto la sua ispirazione da un teschio di scimmia cercopiteco. Realizzato in legno di acero, con un leggero strato di cera come rifinitura. Julia – 02-08-19 Last year I used dancer Julia Gómez Avilés as a model. Next to being a wonderful person for an artist she is ideal because of her flexibility. She can pose in many ways and has lots of stamina. This drawing is not from a live drawing session but based on a picture I saw in her Instagram account. I wanted to do this one because of the extreme pose and the challenge to render her complex body position in a credible way while still adding value to the theme. Model - 01-10-17 A rather loose cubistic sketch done with colour pencils. For the 4th time in a row I used the same (indian) model. Her skin allows me to use a lot of yellow which I counterbalanced with edgy purple planes. I kept the focus on the right side and left the part of the legs on the left side open in order to give it that sketchy look. NAVEL, oak wood burl, 31 x 26 x 20, 2018 The sculpture is named "Navel". The crazy woodworm got inspired by twins orange "navel" when a little orange grows inside a bigger one, so the sculpture shows in its section a head inside a bigger head. It is made of oak burl, its natural cracks are fixed by inlaid with mahogany pieces, like stitches of a surgery scar; finished with a layer of wax. The base is in made by two pieces of mahogany. ITALIAN VERSION La scultura è chiamata "Navel". Il tarlo pazzo prende ispirazione dalle arance gemelle "navel" dove una piccola arancia cresce all'interno di una più grande, così la scultura presenta una testa dentro a una testa più grande. Realizzata in radica di quercia; le naturali fenditure del legno sono fissate tramite intaglio con pezzi di mogano; finito con un velo di cera. La base è formata da due pezzi di mogano. -

Roundism - 08-10-17 In this drawing I tried to play with triangles, circles and rectangulars forming the model posture. Next to this the laws of singularity as described earlier apply just very nicely. Tiger Haven is a 30x30x1.5 inches original oil painting on canvas of a blue eyed white tiger in an abstract winter landscape. The tiger is climbing a tree and is looking out over a pale landscape. This is her safe haven. The colours are pale and range through purples, pinks, peach and whites and the painting style is semi abstract and art nouveau with thick generous paint used to create the tiger herself. The scenery behind the tiger suggests a birch forest with a river running from a lake between two cliffs. This is another in a series of paintings where I am placing tiger's in safe places where mankind and his ignorance cannot get at them. A painting is a small universe and often has its own life. I like to think that the more tigers I place beyond harm, the better off they will be in 'real' life!
