Description
This painting was inspired by “Gopi Geeth” from “Bhagavatam” a devotional book of the Hindus in India. Gopi Geeth is about the love the Gopis feel for Krishna the Godhead, their eternal Lover. Their love is not the physical one but of the eternal kind representing the human soul seeking the Supreme with whom it wants to unite to feel the ecstasy of oneness with God, to be liberated from the earthly desires and miseries. Here, as dusk falls, and time for Krishna’s return with his herd of cows approaches, the Gopis dance in the beautiful soft light of the setting sun, in sheer joy of meeting him.
This depicts Radha’s dance of ecstacy.
